Parker invests in CPM

A prominent Midlands meat processing company has finalised a deal to invest in a Manchester retail packing business.

W & J Parker currently operates out of a site in Leicester. Its frozen division, Parker Fine Foods, is based on a site in Corby.

The company, which also has an investment in Randall Parker Food Group, is investing in Centrally Packed Meats (CPM) - a fresh and frozen packing business in Irlam, Manchester.

CPM opened a 22,000sq ft purpose-built site earlier this year, which supplies beef, pork, lamb and poultry to multiple retailers and wholesalers.

Andrew Parker, director of W & J Parker, said: "There are some very strong and mutually beneficial synergies for CPM and Parker Fine Foods across a number of key areas of the business, the most beneficial and important for both businesses will be a joined-up approach and expanded offer across our fresh and frozen categories to our retailer customer base."

Ryan Williams, director of CPM, said: "We have a great deal to offer on multi-species fresh products, with different and innovative packaging and product formats, and this link-up will give us the same strength of offer on the frozen category."

Parker will join founding directors Steve Allen, Ryan Williams and Elwyn Pugh on the board at CPM.
