Charles Baughan, from the West Country's Westaways Sausages, has posted his third blog post for meatinfo.co.uk, this time addressing the issue of animal welfare.
The Devon company's MD has tackled subjects such as exports and the use of social media for the 'Chewing the Fat' blog before. This time, he discusses the importance of valuing the amimals we kill, and making the best use of them by utilising the whole carcase.
He also tackles food waste: "When I was a kid, if I did not finish my meal, I was lucky enough to have it served up again at the next meal time, and I know many other households had the same approach. There has to be something wrong that today we throw away around 7m tonnes of food and drink a year from our homes in the UK."
