Celebrating the tastiest burgers in the country, the final six in Britain’s Best Burger competition have been announced.
The competitors fighting it out to be crowned champions are:
Burger Brothers – Brighton
The Grazing Shed – Cardiff
Annie’s Burger Shack – Nottingham
Meat59 – Torquay
Jam Jar – Newcastle
Burgers and Beers – Edinburgh
The burgers were judges by a panel of judges on originality, quality of ingredients, chef skill, range of choices and customer feedback.
Just by making it into the finals, the companies behind the burgers will receive £2,500 worth of PR support to help with marketing with the winner, announced on 30 August, will receive £10,000 worth of support.
“We’ve had our work cut out as judges with hundreds of burgers to check out from high quality establishments across the country,” said Gavin Lucas, also known as burger blogger Burgerac and owner of Burgerac’s Burgershack who led the judging.
“It’s great to see operators doing the basics well and using the infinitely customisable nature of burgers to inject some real personality into their menu.”
Rhodri Morgan, marketing manager at Unilever Food Solutions said that burgers remain a popular choice for the UK consumer.
“The competition has been very strong with quality entries from pubs, burger joints and street vendors across the country.
“Our six finalists stood out from the crowd with everything from original ideas, creativity, chef skill and quality ingredients. They’ve demonstrated that their burgers are up there with the best.”
The competition is sponsored by Hellmann’s and is part of the groups Grilltopia campaign, designed to promote the much-loved burger.
