Top butcher outlets listed

Several butchers across the UK were celebrating recently after being named as the best in the country by The Times.

The column, written by food journalist and author Hattie Ellis in the newspaper's Weekend Food Supplement, listed her top 10 butchers, including Frank Richard & Sons in Lewes, East Sussex, The Ginger Pig in London and Macbeth's, of Forres, Scotland.

Macbeth's manager Jock Gibson said: "There are some great names in this list and to be in the mix with them is just fantastic."

The other butchers on the list are: J Wickens, Winchelsea; C Lidgate, London; Pipers Farm, Exeter, Devon; Colin Robinson, Grassington, North Yorkshire; T M Ewbank, Appleby in Westmorland, Cumbria; Radford's, Whitby, North Yorkshire; and Edwards of Conwy, North Wales.
