Consumer spending trends and the economic climate will be the focus of this year’s Outlook conference, Eblex and Bpex have revealed.

The conference, which will be held on 2 May at One Great George Street, Westminster, is held to highlight economic and market information that affects levy payers, with sector-specific forecasting sessions for the coming months. It is jointly hosted by Eblex, Bpex and DairyCo.

The speakers have been confirmed as: Allan Wilkinson, head of agriculture at HSBC, who will look at the current economic climate; Giles Quick, director of Kantar Worldpanel, who will examine consumer trends and the drivers of spending; and AHDB Market Intelligence director Ken Boyns, who will look at the longer-term prospects for agriculture.
The keynote speeches will be followed by breakout sessions to examine the market outlook for the cattle, sheep, pig and dairy sectors in greater detail.

David Swales, market specialist manager with AHDB Market Intelligence said: “Outlook remains an important date in the red meat industry diary and will provide delegates with the opportunity to express views and explore key issues relating to their respective sectors.
“It will equip delegates with relevant information on which to make sound business decisions as we move forward in 2012.”
