Dovey Premium Products set to expand

A food distributor is hoping to strengthen its meat wholesale operations with a little help from HSBC.

Dorset-based Dovey Premium Products (DPP) which supplies meat to restaurants and the wholesalers throughout UK and Europe, specialising in poultry products from South America, Europe and the Far East, has switched to HSBC in a bid to focus on growing its operations further.

At present, the business is split equally between wholesale and foodservice, but the family-run firm sees increasing opportunities within the wholesale sector and said its new relationship with the bank will help facilitate that growth, particularly on the export front.

Geoffrey Dovey said the company’s strategy is to organically expand its branded range of raw  and value-added chicken products from suppliers that are BRC-approved and which produce welfare-audited and grain-fed quality products, free from animal added proteins.

He said: “We provide quality, consistent products with a personal service and an eye for detail. We have developed strong relationships with our customers, who value high-quality products and we want to build our business across the UK. We were looking for a banking partner that would be able to help with both these areas of our business, and are pleased to have moved to HSBC. We have been impressed with the bank’s proactive approach and its desire to learn about our business and ambitions.”

Gary Burton, HSBC regional commercial director for the south west and Wales, said: “Despite being with their previous bank for 23 years, with their plans to expand, DPP sees us as its ideal partner to support its strategic aspirations. The company has plans for steady growth, despite a challenging economic climate, and thanks to the astute and strategic management team, is now well-placed to retain its leading position within its chosen markets.”
