Vion director appointed to Bpex board

Bpex has appointed the agricultural director of Vion, Barry Lock, as a new member to its board, following the resignation of Steve Francis, the former managing director of Vionís pork business.†

Lock, who has been with Vion for more than 20 years and who is a chairman of the British Meat Processors Association (BMPA) Pigs Committee, manages both pig production and the abattoir and processing side of the business at Vion.

Bpex chairman Stewart Houston thanked Steve Francis for his work at Bpex and welcomed Barry to the board. He said: ďHe [Barry] has a great deal of experience covering many different aspects of the industry and that experience will be invaluable as we are facing challenging times.Ē

Francis, who was appointed to the Bpex board in September last year, resigned from it earlier this year following his low-key departure from Vion, where he had been managing director of the pork business since June 2010. He had joined the company in 2008 from the restructuring practice of Roland Berger Strategy Consultants as part of team assembled to acquire and restructure Grampian Food Group, whose sites including the Hallís of Broxburn plant. He subsequently became the chief financial officer before stepping into the role of MD.
