Fisher’s strikes agreement with Sainsbury’s

A long-established family business has been given a new lease of life in a deal struck with Sainsbury’s.

The partnership deal will see the retail giant share Fisher’s Gerrards Cross shop site from 5 December, with the family firm running a refurbished butcher and delicatessen service from today (Monday 26 November).

All staff previously employed by the Buckinghamshire independent supermarket have either been offered jobs in the new butchery and deli or with Sainsbury’s.

Fisher’s Butchers store manager David Marshall said the agreement with Sainsbury’s had secured the business’s future as closure was looking a reality after 43 years in the village.
Chris Clements will take charge of the Sainsbury’s side of the business. He said the supermarket had built a great relationship with Fisher’s and the two businesses were looking forward to trading alongside one another.

Last year Fisher’s won the Best Customer Service Award at the Convenience Retail Awards, run by MTJ’s sister publications, Convenience Store and The Grocer.
