Donations to RABI for Great British Beef Week

The annual Great British Beef Week will see Ladies in Beef co-operating with the charity Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI) for the week commencing 21 April.

This yearís event has changed its format, encouraging participants to host a roast and serve up a Red Tractor joint to guests who will then pay a donation to RABI.

One of the founders of Ladies in Beef, Minette Batters, said the response to the changed format had been great. "The flagship roast is being held at Kingston Maurward College in Dorset, which was pulled together by Andy Foot, the NFUís Beef Group chairman, but Iím absolutely delighted by the response across the country," she said.

"Itís great for RABI to be attached to a good news story too, and the charity has such a great network that this yearís format has really worked."

RABI is a charity that helps farming families in financial difficulty, and its work is funded by public donations, fundraising events and initiatives and support from businesses and community groups.

RABI regional manager Milly Wastie said: "This is a great initiative and, as the partner of a beef farmer myself, I am passionate about promoting British agriculture. I enjoy cooking British beef; I know just how fantastic it is."
