Meatopia to cross the Atlantic

World-class culinary event Meatopia is travelling from its New York-based roots to the streets of London this September, with more than a tonne of meat in store for its visitors.

The one-day “meat-lover’s paradise”, according to New York Magazine, will feature UK-sourced meat prepared by local and US chefs, butchery demonstrations and live music.

Among the chefs are Fergus Henderson who is known for his use of offal, Richard H Turner from Hawksmoor, Jamie Oliver-founded Barbecoa, in addition to a range of Britian’s best chefs and US barbecue experts.

The meat will be local, free of hormones, antibiotics and cruelty, cooked only over logs or hardwood charcoal.

The event will be held on 7 September in the Tobacco Dock in East London and the organisers are expecting around 3,500-4,000 visitors.

And if anyone was wondering if there are vegetarian dishes on the menu, the answer from the Meatopia website is “Umm... no”.
