Main sponsors for beef event announced

Clydesdale Bank and Quality Meat Scotland have been confirmed as the Main sponsors of next year's Royal Northern on-farm event, Beef Tech 2007.

This major technical event for the beef industry in Scotland is being organised by the Royal Northern Agricultural Society and will be held on 31 May on the farm of Sjirk and Thyna Osterhof at Savoch, Lonmay, in the heart of Scotland¹s main beef producing area of Buchan in Aberdeenshire.

The event will feature practical demonstrations, breed displays, Educational exhibits, seminars, trade stands and farm tour, with farm interpretation trail, RNAS president Bill Macckie said: "The valued support of Clydesdale Bank and Quality Meat Scotland as mainline sponsors will ensure a first class technical and promotional event for the Scottish beef industry.

Clydesdale Bank's Thainstone-based managing partner, Iain welcomed Beef Tech 2007 as an important forum for the beef industry in Scotland at a time of considerable changes for beef producers. "The ability to apply technical and technology advances to commercial production in a practical and effective way is a crucial part of many successful businesses," said Clark. "Therefore we are therefore delighted to be able to give our support to Beef Tech 2007, particularly as beef framers throughout the UK adjust and refine their production systems in tune with the introduction of decoupling."

QMS industry development manager Andy McGowan, said: "This event will be a great showcase for the use of the latest technology for beef production.

"Effective use of technology can provide opportunities either to add value or reduce cost, which is essential at a time when margins are tight."
