Industry gears up for awards

With less than a week to go before the SuperMeat & Fish Awards the stage is set for an exciting evening.

Now in its 11th year, the awards will see a number of supermarkets go head to head to compete for titles in both products and stores. The competition will also see one supermarket named SuperMeat & Fish Retailer of the Year.

Taking part in this year's competition are Asda, Budgens, the Co-operative, Lidl, Tesco and Sainsbury's. The event, which is organised by MTJ and takes place at the Park Lane Hilton, London, on 1 July, aims to recognise and reward excellence across the supermarket retailing of meat and fish.

As well as products and stores, the night will also reveal the winner of our popular Meat Industry Personality of the Year Award, voted for on www.meatinfo.co.uk. In the running are Sainsbury's Tom Harvey, ABP's Richard Cracknell, Eblex's John Cross and the Food Standards Agency's Tim Smith.
