FFP takes award for Platinum print solution

Northampton-based flexible packaging manufacturer FFP Packaging Solutions picked up a total of seven awards at the European Flexographic Industry Association Awards (EFIA), including two gold, four silver and a bronze award.

The firm won the Medium Web award for its design of Aunt Bessie's 'Bowl Size Popovers' a US version of Yorkshire pudding as well as the Promotional Print category for its new high-definition print solution, Platinum Print.

The company says Platinum Print, which is matched to FFP's new-generation printing equipment, builds on two years'-worth of research into the flexographic print process and takes advantage of the latest developments in printing plates. It claims the process introduces advantages in soft edges in vignette areas, deep, strong solid colours, and vibrant and dynamic half-tone areas to bring images to life.

Tom Bewley, FFP's production manager, said: "It's great to be recognised by the industry, and we're really proud of what the whole team at FFP has done. Platinum Print is the result of a lot of research and a lot of work, and the results speak for themselves."

The company won silver awards for its Swizzels Monster Bag in the Best On Shelf category, the M&S Gluten Free Lochmuir Salmon for Cavaghan, and Gray and Tulip International's Wicked Pig multipack in the Line and Screen Section. The Wicked Pig Hog Roast pack also won a silver in the Process Print section, while a bronze award in the Line and Screen category was presented to the firm for Yeo Valley Disney Yoghurt Tubes.
