QMS introduces point-of-sale centre

Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) has launched a new point-of-sale centre, which will allow members of the Scotch Butchers’ Club to create their own branded point-of-sale items.

Butchers can customise items like posters and leaflets, individualising them with their own logo, text and details to help push promote Scotch Beef PGI, Scotch Lamb PGI and Specially Selected Pork.

QMS head of marketing Laurent Vernet said: “Scotch Butchers’ Club members currently receive promotional material from QMS and among the campaigns that have been very well received by butchers were marketing materials to encourage customers to rediscover steaks and to cook quick and easy Scotch Beef, Scotch Lamb and Specially Selected Pork summer recipes.

“The new point-of-sale centre will complement the existing promotional material, allowing members to promote Scotch Beef, Scotch Lamb and Specially Selected Pork in a way that’s specific to their business.”

QMS explained that all members of the Scotch Butchers Club are all quality independent butchers - mostly from Scotland but also elsewhere in the UK.

Douglas Scott, Scottish Federation of Meat Traders Association (SFMTA) chief executive, said: “Craft butchers lay great importance on sourcing the very best Scotch Beef PGI, Scotch Lamb PGI and Specially Selected Pork and this facility now enables them to communicate that to their customers in a very professional manner. This initiative from the Scotch Butchers Club is most welcome.”

Inverness butcher Duncan Fraser was one of the first users of the new point-of-sale centre and said: “By being able to personalise and print promotional materials, we can add in any special deals and offers we have on in any particular week. Excellent customer service through advice and recipes is an essential component of our business and if we can add in another promotional tool, it is always a bonus.”
