HCC brings forward campaign to support Welsh Beef

Welsh red meat promotion body Hybu Cig Cymru (HCC) has brought forward its new marketing campaign, promoted by the Welsh rugby team, in reaction to falling market prices.

The new ‘Bred of heaven’ campaign was originally planned to launch in December, but HCC has decided to introduce it earlier.

Laura Pickup, market development manager at HCC, explained: “The beef sector in Wales has experienced a rough ride in recent months. This is due to a number of factors including increased imports of beef into the UK and rising retail prices.

“While the standard of our livestock has never been higher, Welsh Beef deserves to be appreciated and recognised. It is produced in a truly heavenly environment, with a strong farming tradition.”

The Welsh rugby team will give away five tickets for Welsh rugby matches Wales versus England at its home ground in the Cardiff Millennium stadium, as well as five tickets to Wales versus Ireland throughout October and November. Shoppers in Wales have the chance to win tickets by buying Welsh Beef and Lamb products. The campaign will also be supported by television and pitch-side advertisements throughout the autumn rugby international matches.

“Our land is also famous for its loyalty to rugby, which is the reason why we will be offering a fantastic opportunity for fans across the country to win highly sought-after tickets to crucial matches during the 2015 Six Nations tournament,” Pickup added.
