Sausage Week competition reveals brand finalists

The finalists in the ‘Brands’ category of this year’s British Sausage Week competition have now been revealed.

The contenders, who supply multiple retailers with their own-brand sausages, are: W A Turner ‘Debbie and Andrew’s Perfect Cumberland Sausages’; Graham White and Co’s ‘Pork Whites Surrey Sausage’; Eastbrook Farm Organic Meats ‘Helen Browning’s Organic Hot Dogs’; and Lane Farm Country Foods ‘Pork, Apple, Apricot and Ginger Sausage’.

Bpex said there was strong competition for a place in the finals, with more than 50 entries in the ‘Multiple Retailer and Brands’ category. These entries were made in either the ‘Best Traditional Sausage’ or ’Best Innovative Sausage’ category.

Bpex butchery and product development manager Keith Fisher said: “The standard of entries this year has been superb; we’ve seen highly innovative sausages making a return to this year’s competition, along with perfectly formed traditional varieties.

“British Sausage Week provides sausage-makers with an excellent platform to showcase quality-assured sausages, such as those carrying the Red Tractor logo. The celebration of the taste, quality and diversity of the sausage provides a fun and lively way to promote the great tradition of sausage-eating in Britain.”

The Grand Final will take place at Butchers’ Hall on 31 October, with the champions being announced just ahead of British Sausage Week, which takes place from 3-9 November 2014.
