British butchers sought for Tri-Nations challenge

Team GB is looking for six winning butchers to take on Australia and New Zealand as The Tri-Nations Butchery Competition returns in 2015.

This year’s contest will take place in New Zealand this autumn, on home soil for the Kiwis, who won the Tri-Nations in England in 2014.

In a year of international competition, with both the cricket and rugby world cups taking place, the search is on for a team of British butchers who can bring the trophy home from the southern hemisphere.

David Lishman, award-winning butcher and 2014 team captain, said: “Last year the New Zealand team proved they were a class act and this year they have a home advantage. But, butchery in Great Britain has a rich heritage which, with the right team, makes me quietly confident of our chances.

“Today’s British butchers are extremely talented and regularly demonstrate their abilities at regional and national cutting competitions, but it is the Tri-Nations competition that gives us the opportunity to illustrate these talents globally.”

Eblex explained that those who are selected to represent their country will also benefit from a study tour. This will allow them to gain an insight into the global nature of the trade, and exchange information on best practices among industry leaders. The experience and the results of the competition provide valuable feedback to the competitors and wider industry.

To apply to represent your country go to the Eblex Trade site.
