Dates set for Great British Beef Week
Published:  10 March, 2015

The annual Great British Beef Week will this year take place from 23 April to 3 May, once again backed by the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI) and Ladies in Beef.

The Week aims to promote the quality and versatility of British beef, and is timed to coincide with St George’s Day on 23 April.

Ladies in Beef is a group of female beef farmers “who care passionately about British beef”, and the group is supporting the Week to celebrate the beef industry. Meanwhile, RABI is raising money for those in difficulty in the farming industry; last year, more than £35,000 was generated for RABI from Great British Beef Week.

Minette Batters, one of the founders of Ladies in Beef and deputy president of the NFU, said: “As professional beef farmers we know what goes into producing the very best British beef. As mothers and shoppers ourselves, we also know how challenging it can be to have to provide healthy and nutritious meals for our families, seven days a week.”

RABI is asking for you to tweet your beef dinner to @rabicharity using the hashtag #BeefItUp. To donate, text RABI18 followed by the £ sign and the amount you wish to donate to 70070 (for example RABI18£5).

RABI chief executive Paul Burrows said: “It’s heartening to see so many people come together to celebrate the best of British farming, while raising funds to support farming families in difficulty.”

Last year, Ladies in Beef asked the public to take a #beefie: a pictures of themselves with their cattle or a meal made with British beef.
