Tulip increases graduate fair presence

Tulip is taking a proactive approach to attract new graduates to its business.

The company will be present at graduate fairs in Reading, Sheffield, Nottingham and Harper Adams over the coming months, in an effort to attract the brightest and the best through its ‘Talent for the New Generation’ (TFNG) programme.

Kirsty Wilkins, Tulip’s group HR director, said: “Although not always among the first choice of career paths for graduates, the UK’s food manufacturing industry is widely recognised as being one of the most skilled and innovative sectors to enter.

“With our TFNG programme we have put in place a scheme that will enable us to attract, develop and retain the very best of talented graduates looking to enter the workplace, which should not only be of invaluable benefit to the candidates, as it also has an enormously positive impact on Tulip and our industry as a whole.”

Earlier this year, it expanded its apprenticeship programme in the search of new butchers, engineers and technical specialists.

The business offered 24 butchery, 15 engineering and five technical apprenticeships at various locations across its UK operation to start in the autumn.

“We have been working in partnership with the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills together with the Department of Education and other industry leaders over the last few years to develop the Trailblazers standard, which offers candidates relevant formal qualifications to support them in building a career in the food industry,” said Tulip’s group learning and development manager Ally Patterson.

“Candidates are assessed throughout their apprenticeship to ensure they learn the knowledge and relevant skills in their chosen career."
