Jobs at risk at Tulip's Bodmin site
Published:  06 January, 2016

Operational changes by meat processor Tulip could lead to 430 redundancies at its Bodmin cooked meat facility.

In a statement, the processor confirmed that, “as a result of recent supplier reviews with some of its customers”, it will be expanding its cooked bacon operations at its Bodmin site and move its cooked meats operations from Bodmin to alternative sites within the UK.

The result of the proposed change is that approximately 430 positions at Bodmin are now at risk of redundancy. Tulip has entered into a period of collective consultation with colleagues and their representatives who are potentially impacted by the announcement.

The statement added: “During the consultation process, Tulip’s management will work closely with the team at Bodmin to explore all viable alternatives to the proposal to, wherever possible, avoid any unnecessary redundancies and reduce the number of employees affected.”
