NACB chairman announces retirement

Peter Allen, of Aubrey Allen, revealed he has stepped down as his position as chairman of the National Association of Catering Butchers (NACB).

The news was revealed at the organisation’s annual general meeting (AGM).

Since being in the role since 2006, Allen, alongside Nigel Tottman of Nigel Fredericks, who also stepped down from the board, are both credited by NACB’s members as being major drivers behind the association. Last year saw them oversee the establishment of a new NACB standard, focusing on an embedded food safety culture.

“We appreciate the work that Peter has done over the last six years for the association and wish him success for the future,” Tottman said while presenting Allen with a silver salver at the AGM. Other members in attendance thanked Allen for his services to the industry.

With the news that both Allen and Tottman have stepped down from their positions, the NACB is entering a new era. Its board now comprises up to eight directors who will share the work load of the association.

2016 will see the group focusing on the promotion of the NACB standard, alongside providing technical support to its members.
