Nominations open for David Black Award
Published:  02 June, 2016

One of the pig industry’s most prestigious awards is now open for nominations.

The David Black Award is given every year to somebody who has made a valuable contribution to the industry. Previous winners have come from backgrounds in academia, journalism, processing, the allied industry and production.

“More than 50 years ago, East Anglican pig producer David Black created the award that bears his name and it is as relevant now as it was then,” said AHDB Pork strategy director and chairman of the judging panel Mick Sloyan.

“We still look for somebody who has gone above and beyond the call of duty to help the industry. There are many people who fit that description and we want the industry’s help to find them.”

Anybody is eligible to make a nomination through the AHDB Pork website, with the eventual winner being chosen by a panel of independent judges.

The award will be presented at an industry breakfast at the terrace of the House of Lords in November, attended by parliamentarians, Lords, senior servants and members of the industry.

The deadline for nominations is Friday 26 August and can be made through the AHDB website on http://pork.ahdb.org.uk/news/david-black-award/.
