What does ‘out’ mean for foodservice industry?

Nicholas RobinsonLazy young Brits won’t fill the void in the foodservice sector and the manufacturing industry that ill-educated and shortsighted Brexit voters may have created with last month’s EU referendum result. 

Foodservice and food manufacture are growing parts of our economy and both rely heavily on workers from across Europe to keep business booming.

Thousands of Europeans are the heartbeat of the hospitality sector and work tirelessly to keep it alive. They work laborious and long hours that many Brits refuse to mirror. The same goes for manufacture.
I voted in because there was no clear argument to leave, which worried me.

We don’t know what is going to happen to European workers once the UK leaves the EU fully. It’s all speculative at the moment. But we must continue to ask questions about what could happen to the foodservice sector. How can businesses grow without hard workers and who will replace the Europeans if they have to leave?

In a way I do admire the bravery of the out camp. It could be the making of Britain. However, if the outies were wrong, their stupidity has been the downfall of the UK. We had strength, given to us through the support of our great neighbours.

If you were wrong, then my generation, my children’s and my grandchildren’s will be picking up the shattered pieces of the stinking mess made by the blind Brexit campaigners for decades to come.

Welcome to the future, nobody can say it’s bright. It’s dark and full of shame.
