Faccenda Foods and Dartmouth Foods in cooked poultry link-up

Faccenda Foods and Dartmouth Foods have announced a joint venture that will see their cooked poultry operations integrated.

The joint venture will initially focus on the duck market and will operate under the Dartmouth Foods name to “capitalise on its strong brand and reputation for quality”.

It is hoped the link-up will help both businesses provide a “secure supply, clear provenance and deliver significant increases in capacity and potential for product development”. It will also make the partnership the only UK supplier that can offer cooked British chicken, turkey and duck.

Andy Dawkins, managing director at Faccenda Foods, said: “A significant proportion of the duck market is in cooked products, and the team at Dartmouth Foods are great at what they do, so working more closely and integrating the cooking operation into the supply chain makes perfect sense. We believe that consumers will love the quality and taste of our duck and this partnership will enable more of them to try it.”

Nick Obolensky, Dartmouth Foods joint managing director, added: “This partnership will provide both partners with real opportunities for growth. Being able to deliver products through such a short supply chain is a huge advantage and gives us the security and capacity to provide a unique range of cooked British poultry that our customers will like and consumers will enjoy.”

Production through the link-up is set to begin this summer in a new £10 million facility located in Plymouth. The new site has been developed to increase capacity and efficiency, as well as open up potential for new product development.

“Our new facility in Plymouth will be the model for a modern cooking operation,” said Dartmouth Foods joint managing director Ed Obolensky. “It is being built to meet the highest environmental standards and we’re installing state-of-the-art equipment to give us more capacity, greater efficiency and lots of exciting new opportunities for developing our product range.”
