EHL Ingredients launches 20 new lines to celebrate birthday

In honour of being in operation for 20 years, EHL is launching ten new products over the course of this month. In total, it will introduce 20 new blends over 2016. 

The new editions for the month of September are: Cuban Sazon complete; a Korean barbecue seasoning; Yemeni blend; Zhug; Khmeli Suneli from Georgia; Mitmita spice mix from Ethopia; Vadouvan curry powder from Pondicherry, India; Malaysian satay seasoning; Indonesian fish curry powder and an Old Bay seasoning from the US.

The new seasonings are designed to bring flavours from around the world to inspire the meat processing and food manufacturing sectors. EHL has already launched seven new herb and spice blends this year including a Brazilian-inspired churrasco seasoning, two new barbecue blends and four Asian spice mixes. Three more new products are left to be introduced this year.

These new flavours are part of the group’s target to reach sales of £7 million for the year, up £1.2m from its £5.8m year-end sales for 2015.

“We’re aiming for 2016 to be our biggest year yet as we aim for our highest sales targets to date,” said managing director Tasneem Backhouse. “Launching 20 new herb and spice blends is a key part of our 20 year celebrations, to raise the profile of our blending expertise and capabilities.

“Our product development team has worked hard to research, trial and launch these ten new blends and we’re excited and confident they will be well received by the food industry. Consumers are always on the look-out for the next new food trend and our new international blends bring unusual flavour combinations from popular cuisines, such as Cuban, Korean and Ethiopian.”

Backhouse added that after working with some customers for the full 20 years EHL has been in operation, the firm has been able to establish a reputation for delivering high-quality products with a reliable service.

“We put our success and stability down to several key factors; our responsiveness to customer demand and consumer trends, a strong sales team, quality organic, free-form and conventional products, and our bespoke onsite blending capabilities,” she said. “Our new product development team, technical expertise, reliable service and our positive profile in the food industry press also contribute towards our business growth and will continue to do so.

EHL supplies an estimated 300 food ingredients including a 200-strong organic range and over 90 custom blends. Products are sold into the meat processing sector and to butchers, as well as been supplied by wholesalers and food manufacturers. They are sold to speciality shops, delis and organic retailers across the UK.

30 workers are currently employed by the company based out of its Broadstone Industrial Estate plant in Reddish.

The team is now working on more new ingredient blends which will include bespoke, organic and free-form products designed to tap into burgeoning markets, as well as targeting the meat processing sector with new formats.
