Butchers are encouraged to rubber up in pink this month to raise money for breast cancer, as October becomes Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Latex glove-maker Bodyguards has teamed up with the Pink Ribbon Foundation to launch a brand new pink Latex and Nitrile glove on to the market, which sees 15p for every box sold donated to the breast cancer charity.

Bodyguards general manager Iain Crawford said: "Breast cancer is now the most common cancer in the UK. Statistics confirm that, in the last 20 years, breast cancer rates have increased by more than 50%, with over 100 breast cancer cases being diagnosed every day. Bodyguards is proud to be able to support the work of the Pink Ribbon Foundation."

The gloves can either be purchased in boxes of Nitrile or Latex or in packets that can be displayed in the shop, where customers can also buy them.

Statistics show that more than 44,000 women and 300 men are diagnosed with breast cancer every year and it is hoped the gloves will raise awareness of the cancer, which kills more than 12,300 people a year.
