Butcher’s Shop of The Year hosts book signing
Published:  24 January, 2017

Butcher’s Shop of The Year 2016 winner Walter Rose & Son hosted a book signing on 20 January by celebrity chef Tom Kerridge, a regular customer of the business.

Kerridge was promoting his new book Dopamine Diet, which advocates low-carbohydrate, high-protein food consumption. The chef, who boasts two Michelin stars, claims to have lost more than 11 stone in the past three years by following the plan. More than 300 fans turned up to the signing.

Recipes in the book are designed to naturally trigger the release of ‘feel-good’ chemical dopamine in the brain – hence the title.

Walter Rose & Son supplies meat to Kerridge’s pubs and, over the years, has built up a close working relationship with him and his team at both the Hand and Flowers and The Coach in Marlow.

Commenting on the visit, Stephen Cook, director of Walter Rose, said: “Once again it’s great that Tom took the trouble to come here. It’s always a pleasure to welcome him to our business as we are really proud of the fact he has chosen us to supply his meat. Our customers and staff loved meeting him and it brought a bit of unexpected excitement to the town on a Friday afternoon in January.”

Meat Trades Journal is challenging butchers from across the UK to send in their most innovative recipes for the annual National Butchers’ Week. MTJ organises the event, which is designed to promote the independent butchery sector and, this year, runs from 13-19 March. Click here for more information.

Send your recipe in to aidan.fortune@wrbm.com and we will aim to publicise it online and/or in the magazine. Readers will be invited to vote on their favourite recipe, with the winner recognised at Butcher’s Shop of the Year 2017.
