Published:  23 March, 2017

Douglas Willis Ltd has issued a recall for a variety of meat products on a precautionary basis as they may contain small pieces of hard plastic. This recall affects Wales only.

The products affected are:

Pork and leek gourmet sausage
Lamb and feta cheese meatballs
Pork sausage
CMR burgers
Chuck burger
Halal beef burger
Venison burger
Venison sausage
Lamb and rosemary sausage

The sausages recalled were packed on 20 March 2017 with a use-by date of 29 March 2017, with the burgers being packed on 20 March 2017 also and labelled with a use-by date of 26 March 2017. No other Douglas Willis products are known to be affected.

If the products have been purchased, it is advised that they are not consumed, but instead returned to the store where they were bought for a full refund. Point-of-sales notice will be displayed in all retail stores selling the products, explaining to customers why they are being recalled and what actions ought to be taken.

A statement from Douglas Willis read: “We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and assure our customers of our continuing commitment to the highest standards of food safety and quality.”
