David Black Award open for nominations

The hunt is on to find one exceptional individual to receive the pig industry’s most prestigious award. 

The David Black Award, sponsored by AHDB Pork, is presented every year to somebody who has made a valuable and sustained contribution to the pig industry.

Previous winners have come from a variety of backgrounds, including production, academia, journalism, allied industries and processing. Individuals such as Meryl Ward, Andrew Knowles and Susanna Williamson are all recent winners.

Mick Sloyan, AHDB Pork strategy director, said: “Every year we look to reward an individual or organisation that has gone that extra mile for the pig industry. Over the years there have been many people who fit that description.

“The David Black Award is the highest honour the pig industry can bestow and we need the industry’s help to find a worthy recipient of this year’s award.”

The winner will be chosen by a panel of independent judges and will be presented at an industry breakfast event in the autumn.
