2 Sisters creates 100 jobs at upgraded Flixton site
Published:  30 November, 2017

2 Sisters Food Group is to take on 100 additional staff members at its Flixton site in response to growing demand from its retail customers.

The workforce expansion comes after an upgrade of the facility earlier this year. The site has seen investment in new innovative technology and an upgrade of its effluent plant as part of a multi-million pound investment programme across the business’ poultry division.

The Flixton site currently processes more than one million birds a week and employs 650 people.

The new roles will be permanent positions, mostly as production operatives, but a company spokesperson said there were also vacancies in despatch, training, engineering, finance and health & safety.

Allison Smith, general manager at the Flixton site, said: “The upgrade at Flixton will enable us to grow business and provide new career opportunities for people in the region.

“This is great news for the site and acknowledges the loyalty and capability of our fantastic colleagues who continue to go the extra mile each and every day to supply our customers with great quality, safe chicken.”

John Gibson, site human resources manager, added: “We’re very proud of what we do here at Flixton and excited by the prospect of expanding our family.

“Young people, in particular, often don’t see the food industry as their first choice for a career, but we can offer a wide range of exciting job opportunities - from finance to engineering, from training to health and safety. We’ve learnt that identifying the right people first time allows their careers to grow and we have many people that started on the shop floor now running senior teams.”
