Scottish pie firm Bells Food Group has launched two new pie options to celebrate the festive season.

The new products – an Aberdeen Angus Steak Pie and a Hogmanay Steak Pie – have been introduced to address an predicted sales spike.

The packaging has also been designed with a window display which has been created to help the pies stand out on shelves during the busy season.

Both of the pies are made using select cuts of beef in a rich gravy and hand finished with Bells Special Puff Pastry. With over 85 years’ of experience, the Bells team have introduced a pioneering cooking method that means their pies are braised slowly and tenderly for an enhanced experience.

“The Bell family has been producing steak pies for three generations and we work hard to constantly improve our traditional recipes and cooking processes at the factory in Shotts,” said Gordon Smith, director of sales and marketing at Bells Food Group.

“Our new steak pies are perfect for sharing with family at Christmas and Hogmanay. Steak pies remain at the heart of the Scottish dinner table, and Bells is a brand loved throughout Scotland.”

Bells expects so many of the pies to be sold this Christmas, it would equal the height of Ben Nevis and be as tall as around as 10,000 six foot Christmas trees. To meet demand, Bells has taken on 20 additional staff members at its Shotts facility.

“We bake more than a million steak pies every year and we are predicting that sales will increase this month, so stock up and bring in the bells with our new Aberdeen Angus Premium Steak Pie or Hogmanay Steak Pie – ideal for sharing with friends and family,” concluded Smith.

The pies are available in supermarkets throughout Scotland.
